The London RISE (Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence) Open Education Fortnight in March 2026 is a DfE-backed initiative where high-performing London schools open their doors to educators, offering opportunities to observe best practices in attendance, inclusion, and attainment.
Whitehall has been selected for: attainment.
At Whitehall, our RISE open mornings will offer visitors a close look at how we secure strong and sustained attainment across the school. Our children make consistently strong progress over time, and our end‑of‑KS2 outcomes remain above national. This success is rooted in a curriculum designed to develop articulate and confident thinkers.
Central to our approach is Philosophy for Children (P4C). Regular enquiry sessions nurture critical thinking, strengthen oracy and deepen comprehension. Our children learn to express ideas clearly, justify their viewpoints and listen attentively to others- skills that directly enhance achievement in reading, writing and across the wider curriculum.
Our reading provision sits alongside this as a key driver of attainment. Through systematic teaching, rich and representative texts, and carefully targeted support, our children develop the ability to decode, interpret and analyse increasingly complex material. The combination of high‑quality reading instruction and rigorous classroom talk creates a powerful foundation for secure academic outcomes.
A distinctive feature of our curriculum is its grounding in social justice. Our chidlren explore meaningful issues, question inequalities and examine multiple perspectives: we teach a curriculum that is beyond the everyday. This not only enriches learning but also builds empathy, reasoning and wider awareness that helps our children understand why their learning matters.
During the open mornings, visitors will see how these elements work together in practice. We will be offering learning walks as well as time for professional discussion.
Open mornings will take place on:
- Wednesday 11th March 930-12
- Tuesday 17th March 0930-12
