Zakia Khatun
I am proud to be the Head teacher at Whitehall Primary School. I have taught in many schools across London; all serving children and families from diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about education and what it can do for the children in our care and opportunities that they have access to. I love learning and have recently obtained my National Professional Qualification for Headship. I have a Masters in Primary Education and have been a participant of the prestigious Future Leaders programme with Ambition Institute.
Future Leader heads and their schools are currently at the fore for educational achievement and are leading the way in challenging educational disadvantage and seeking excellence in their schools. As part of the programme, I have also mentored other leaders from across the country both from primary and secondary backgrounds. I feel privileged to lead Whitehall Primary and am excited by what we can achieve for the school community and wider society.

I am delighted to become a Governor at Whitehall School and hope I can bring my experience and expertise to the Governing Body who have been very welcoming.
I am a retired secondary headteacher (for 17 years) and am a Chair of Governors in a primary school in Tower Hamlets. I have been a Governor for more than 25 years so I know what is expected! My experience and expertise is in leadership, teaching and learning, safeguarding and SEN and inclusion. I completed my PHD when I retired and am always willing and happy to learn new things. I really enjoy working alongside leaders and school staff to help and support them in their roles.
I am very interested in hearing children’s voices through the school council and other pupil leadership programmes. I am also very interested in hearing staff and teachers voices as I get to know the school.
Lucy Cientanni
I currently live and work in Waltham Forest, but I have been a secondary school teacher in Tower Hamlets for 27 years, 15 of those as a Senior Leader, with pastoral responsibilities. During this time, I have gained a wealth of experience in the world of education which I hope can be put to good use in my role as governor here at Whitehall.
I am deeply passionate about advocating for children’s rights and fostering equality of opportunity in order to ensure all children achieve their full potential. I am excited to join Whitehall, as a governor, and look forward to contributing to the school’s success and supporting its mission to inspire and uplift every student.
Sarouj Pillay
I am excited to be a member of the Governing Body at Whitehall Primary School. I recently joined the school as the STEM and computing lead / class teacher and have been warmly welcomed by all the staff at school as well as the members of the governing body. I have taught at a number of schools with very diverse communities and now look forward to serving our school and the wider community of Chingford, Waltham Forest.
I have been an educator for 20+ years and my experience includes that of being a leader and a member of the governing body at a previous school. I am passionate about ensuring that every child in our care receives the best possible opportunities to achieve the best outcomes that they can.
Jeff Seddon
I am an IT director for a major financial services company. Before that, I spent over 15 years in technology and management consulting. I have lived and worked in France, Honduras and Kenya, before settling back in the UK.
I grew up in Waltham Forest and benefited from the fantastic education and opportunities offered to me by the state system, which led me to be the first in my family to sit A-levels and go to university. I chose to be a governor because I want to help ensure children in the borough today get the same opportunities I did – or better!
I am eager to see how the school will move forward in the coming years, and feel privileged to be a part of it.
Jo Crossfield
I have lived in Waltham Forest for over five years. I am passionate about equity of opportunity for all. This has led me to work as a Research Director for a large research agency, understanding how government policy in employment and welfare is affecting the people it is aimed at.
This experience has given me a deep understanding of the importance of the role that schools play in supporting positive, long-term outcomes and the challenges that they face. I’m really excited to be working with the school and Governors to help them to deliver their aim of making sure all children at Whitehall have the best possible experience and are prepared for their next steps after leaving the school.
Suddie Komba-Kono
I have lived in Waltham Forest for most of my life. I am delighted to serve as a governor for a school in my local borough. As Head of Religious Education and PSHE in a London secondary school, I have expertise in curriculum delivery, improving outcomes and student wellbeing. I have many years of experience supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
I believe that schools thrive when they work in close partnership with their community. I am keen to work alongside staff to create an environment where students feel safe, valued and inspired to succeed.

I have covered a lot of ground in education – first as a Maths teacher, then as a language tutor, and then as a Teacher Trainer. Currently I am an education consultant and data analyst, and I’m excited to bring my experience and ideas to Whitehall and this community.
I love the values that this school subscribes to. I have been so impressed with how empowered the students are, and I’m looking to ensure that the student experience remains at the heart of every decision the school makes. I want to make sure that students have access to every possible opportunity, are stretched when they can be and always supported when they need to be.

I currently work within Housing for Waltham Forest Council. My previous experience includes roles in media, government and the charity sector.
I have grown up and spent most of my life living within Waltham Forest and I am proud to now bring up my own children here. School was a safe space for me growing up. As a Parent Governor, I want to ensure that my own children and their peers have the same opportunity to come to school, ready to learn within a safe, secure and enjoyable environment.
I continue to be impressed by the independent, eloquent and sophisticated nature of the students at Whitehall. I now hope to play my part in ensuring that they continue to push the boundaries of their knowledge and abilities.

I am delighted to join the Governing Body at Whitehall Primary. I work in Financial Services/Asset management, having started my career in the tech sector shortly after finishing my own education A Levels. My experience as a youth mentor has cemented my passion for helping young people succeed.
As a young professional, I offer a current and relatable perspective on the transition from school to the workplace, and I am keen to ensure our pupils are brilliantly prepared for their next steps from early
